Rain is among the most problematic driving conditions, whether drizzles or downpours. Wet weather increases accident rates. Understanding how wet roads & poor visibility affect car handling will enable you to drive effectively in the rain.
Keep more space between your car and the one ahead of you. Driving in the rain will make it harder for you to stop your car. Keep a few car lengths of space between your vehicle and other vehicles.
Try to avoid cruise control! In wet conditions, pulling your foot from the accelerator slows you sufficiently to regain traction. When you engage cruise control, the vehicle won't respond till you brake. In a loss-of-traction emergency, you have more options without cruise control.
Your headlights should be on. Turning on your car's headlights will improve your visibility and other drivers' capacity to see your vehicle on the road.
Additionally, ventilate your car. Rain increases humidity and can make a car's windows hazy. Most cars' ventilation systems decrease interior window and windshield fog. If you can't see out your windows, pull over.
