While some people may be exceptionally lucky, most of us will have to deal with a roadside emergency at some point in our lives. Being prepared and remaining calm are the two most important things to do in an emergency. Here are a few tips for that from Dallas Collision Center.
Traveling with a roadside emergency kit can help you make minor repairs on your vehicle, as well as keep you relatively comfortable. You should include water, flashlights, nonperishable food, a toolkit, etc. There also should be flares or some other item that alerts drivers to your location.
When experiencing car trouble, getting off the road safely should be a top priority. If possible, pull over onto the right shoulder of the road as far as you can. If you have cell phone service, you should immediately alert someone to where you are and what is happening. If necessary, call for a tow truck as well.
